Frequently asked questions

What are the BMI categories?

Underweight is below 18.5, healthy is 18.5 to 24.9, overweight is 25 to 29.9, and obese is 30 and above.

Does BMI work for everyone?

BMI is a screening measure. It does not distinguish muscle from fat, so athletes and children need different interpretation.

Metric or imperial?

Both. Pick kilograms and centimetres, or pounds and inches, and the calculator converts for you.
