Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between percent and percentage points?

A rise from 20% to 25% is a 5 percentage point rise, but a 25% increase relative to the starting 20%. The calculator shows the relative change.

Can percentages be over 100%?

Yes. 150% of 80 is 120, and a value can grow by more than 100% of its starting point.

What happens if the old value is zero?

Percentage change from zero is undefined, so the calculator reports that instead of a number.
